Is it too late to join? How Ember works for families who arrive later.

No. Every family earns on its own record. Here is what stays open forever and what is finite.

Ember · Family Basecamp · Updated September 2026

A fair question. If the record has been running for a while, does a family that joins later start behind?

What is open forever

Everything. Every family earns independently on its own record. There is no shared pool to run dry and no supply to exhaust. A campfire earns one Ember whether Family Basecamp has 100 families or a million, and whether you joined in year one or year ten. Your Chronicle unlocks at 25 Embers. You reach Emunah at 365. None of that changes based on when you arrived.

The Referral ladder works the same way

Covenant, Watchman, and Lamplighter are earned by how many families you've referred, not by when you joined. There is no cap on how many families can reach any of these marks, and no advantage held by whoever got there first. A family that starts referring next year has exactly the same path to Lamplighter as a family that started on day one.

What a family holds, no matter when they arrive

Their Chronicle is theirs. Their Ember record cannot be altered. Their tiers are permanently recorded. None of it can be bought, sold, or transferred, by anyone, at any time, which also means none of it can be taken away.

Why early still means something, without meaning more

Not because later families are shut out of anything. Because the earliest Chronicles begin before any of this was certain, and that timing is visible on the record forever. A family that reached Flame in 2026 will still show that date in their Chronicle decades from now. That's a fact about their story, not an advantage in earning the next one.

The best time to start was the campfire you did not have last Tuesday. The second best time is this one.
